At Holy Spirit Christian Theological University (HSCU), our faith is at the heart of everything we do, We are committed to upholding and teaching the following core beliefs:
1. The Triune God. We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal, deserving of our worship and obedience
-“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
2. The Authority of Scripture: We believe the Bible is God’s inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word. It is the ultimate guide for faith, doctrine, and conduct, revealing God’s truth to humanity.
-“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). D
3. The Deity and Humanity of Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died
on the cross for our sins, was burned, rose from the dead on the third day, and ascended into heaven. He is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and will return in glory.
-“For in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily” (Colossians 2.9).
-“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
4. Salvation by Grace through Faith: We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by works but is granted to those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
-“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
5. The Work of the Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells and empowers believers for godly living, service, and witness. The Holy Spirit guides, comforts, and convicts us, helping us to grow in our faith and conform to the image of Christ.
– “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14:26).
-“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever (John 14:16).
6. The Church: We believe in the universal Church, the body of Christ, comprised of all believers. The Church exists to worship God, build up the believers, and proclaim the gospel to the world. We are called to live in unity, love, and service to one another.
-“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27).
– “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near” (Hebrews 10.24-25).
7. The Sacraments: We believe in the observance of the sacraments instituted by Jesus Christ: baptism and the Lord’s Supper, Baptism is a public declaration of faith, symbolizing the believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of Christ’s sacrifice, a means of grace, and a proclamation of His return.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
– “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes” (1 Corinthians 11:26).
8. The Resurrection and Eternal Life: We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead. Believers will be raised to eternal life and joy in the presence of God, while unbelievers will face eternal separation from God.
– “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first” (1 Thessalonians 4:16).
– “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matthew 25:46).
9. The Great Commission: We believe in the mandate to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey all that Jesus commanded. We are called to be witnesses of Christ, sharing His love and truth with the world.
